About Me

Once Upon A Time...

I’m Karen and just in case you are curious, here is the PaperDoll Story:
As long as I can remember, I have searched for a creative outlet.  I’ve tried sewing, quilting, cooking, scrap booking, cake decorating and more.  After my son Graham was born, I started making his birthday invitations and thank you cards.  That led to Christmas cards, bag tags and note cards.  Once my little girl Nora was born things definitely took off in a very pink direction.  My childhood friend Kara took notice of my creations and in the fall of 2003 she announced that she was hosting a “shopping party” to showcase my little collection!  I’d been dreaming of putting my passion for pretty paper and my stationery design hobby to good use, so I went for it.  My friends and family blessed my little venture and immediately spread the word.  BOOM - I was in business!  It was a little overwhelming until my friend Hollie joined PaperDoll in 2005.  We were a perfect pair and together expanded the line, developed a website and got things in order.  Hollie left PaperDoll at the end of 2006 but I still solicit her creative advise on a regular basis.   In the past few years, I've spent lots of time adding new items and getting the word out about PaperDoll Designs.  My fabulous hubbie Nathan, whom I affectionately call The Baker, stepped right in to lighten the load...he’s super husband, super dad, PaperDoll bookkeeper and the official candy bar wrapper.  PaperDoll is one of my babies and I believe God has blessed me with the creativity it takes to keep it going.  It also would have never come this far without the support and encouragement of my sweet friends and family.  I'm astonished when I look back at how it all started and see where I am now.  I love what I do and I plan to keep on doing it!  So there you have it...the PaperDoll Story.
