Fairy Garden

I've always loved miniatures.  When I was little, my favorite thing was my dollhouse and not much has changed.  A few years ago, I stumbled upon a picture of a miniature garden...a fairy garden.  I was immediately in love with the idea.  There is a local garden store in town that has a few fairy gardens set up and I love to stop by each summer to check them out.  Last week, on a whim, Charlie and I decided to go by and he was pretty fascinated too.  When I got home I got on Pinterest to look for ideas and then the next morning, I just decided to do it.  The supplies were fairly inexpensive and I had some little helping hands so we made it our project for the day.
I really wanted a miniature house but all the houses I found were a little out of my budget so I went for a 1/2 price bird house from Hobby Lobby.  It works.
I just grabbed a bag of small river rocks to make paths.
Tiny blue rocks make a great little pond for the garden.
My favorite part is definitely the tiny picnic table and the flag bunting.  I'm thinking about painting the picnic table hot pink but my boys objected.  It's probably gonna happen anyway.  Charlie wants to add miniature dinosaurs and I think I'll let him as long as the table gets to be pink.
I planted a few small plants and added some moss that was growing in our yard and that was it.

I really love it and hope I can keep it alive.  I'm already planning my next fairy garden!

Where the sidewalk ends...

Last year, the kids and I talked about chalking the entire walkway leading to our house to look like colorful stones.  We planned to do it one day but never got around to it.  Yesterday, I was looking for something and found a brand new box of sidewalk chalk and immediately told Charlie and Nora to come outside.  I gave them a Tupperware lid to trace and told them to get to work.

They were actually pretty excited about the idea and were super focused in the beginning.  I'll admit that I couldn't resist drawing some "stones" and chalking them in myself.  Once we lost the morning shade, Charlie was out.  We took a little lunch break and then somehow convinced the teenage boy to come help for a little while.   He's such a good sport.  He even let me take a picture!
Between the four of us, it only took about 2 hours...maybe a little less.   I'm so in love with it.  I would keep it if I could.

It was supposed to rain this morning.  I'm doing a little happy dance that it didn't.  Charlie woke up today and asked if we could chalk the driveway.  We're going to need more chalk.

Thankful Thursday

It's Thankful Thursday and today all you need to do is leave a comment telling me just one thing you are thankful for and you will have the chance to win a set of note cards...design of your choice!
You can pick any design/color combo you'd like if you win but I'm loving this design right now!!

Today I am thankful for:
  • Dermabond.  Nora took a ping pong paddle to the eyebrow this week.  Dermabond fixed her right up.  I was so thankful they didn't do stitches!  I was also so thankful that I wasn't there to see all the blood.  I don't do well with blood but apparently it was a bleeder!  Thankful for friends and a husband that doesn't panic during accidents like I do!
  • I am thankful that I'm still having fun with this little business.  I am in love with the new color scheme and so thankful for some pieces that fell into place while I was rebranding.  My web redesign should have cost me a fortune but it's a God thing and I ended up doing it all for $9.99!  THANKFUL!!!

  • I am thankful for Urgent Care.  The day before Nora had to make a visit, I dislocated my toe.  As you can see, it was completely going the wrong direction.  The PA that fixed me up was pretty awesome.  He obviously LOVES his job and had so much fun shooting my toe up TWICE with lidocaine and resetting it.  He was so happy that I couldn't be hating on him even though he was giving me shots and pulling on my sore toe.  I'm so thankful that they got it fixed and back in it's place.  It was looking very wrong!

What are YOU thankful for?  Leave me a comment on this blog post for a chance to win a set of personalized note cards!

Currently...

READING...
The Bible.  I think 2014 will be the year I can FINALLY say, I read the Bible in a year!!!  I'm almost there!  I think I should finish up in late August if I stick with it through the crazy summer schedule.   Are any of my Thy Word in a Year girls still out there?
WORKING ON...
Rebranding.  My website and blog have both gotten a face lift recently.  I thought it was time for a little revamp.  I pulled some things from around my office for inspiration and came up with this color scheme:

PaperDoll has been pink, pink and PINK for so long and I didn't want to abandon that but I decided adding some brighter colors might be fun.  I'm in love with this color combo and can't wait get all my packaging goodies in so I can make the new look official!
LOVING...
yellow.  In case that wasn't obvious from the new color scheme.
WATCHING...
Alias.  I was looking for something to watch on Netflix while I work and came across Alias.  It was my FAVORITE show about 10 years ago when it was on.  I started watching from the beginning and I can't stop.  I love it.  If you didn't watch it when it was on, GO WATCH IT!  Michael Vartan.  I know most people would say Bradley Cooper.  Michael Vartan.  Where did he go???
CARRYING...

this gray bow purse from Kinies.  My mom gave it to me for my birthday a few years ago but I went through a small purse phase for a long time and I guess I forgot about it.  I remembered I had it the other day and I've fallen in love with it again.  It holds so much and it's so cute.  I love the bow.  Bows make everything cuter.

WHAT ARE YOU UP TO?
