A Few of My NEW Favorite Things...

If you know me, you know I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. My crazy curly hair was perfect for the late 80's and the early 90's. I dug my hair back then. When big hair became uncool my hair problems became serious. All my hair knows how to do on its own is "BIG." Somewhere in the mid 90's my sorority sister Ande spent what seemed like forever one night straightening my hair. Once I realized it could be done I was hooked. For the past 13 years or so I've spent endless amounts of time with lots of product and a flat iron. I've straightened it for so many years that I've almost trained it not to curl. In fact, now if I try to make it curl I really just get a bunch of frizz. ATTRACTIVE. A few weeks ago I decided I was sick and tired of spending hours with the blow dryer and the flat iron. I picked up this product:It's a miracle!! I got the Wonder Waves shampoo, conditioner and mousse and after one use I had lots of waves and curls and a lot less frizz. I'm not saying my hair looks fabulous so if you see me out and about don't judge. I'm just saying it's a lot easier than hours spent straightening! So to all my fellow frizzy haired friends, go get some Wonder Waves!!! You can thank me later.

Have you tried the Cinnamon Sugar Soft Pretzels from the Target Snack Bar? Am I crazy, or are they one of the yummiest things ever??? I don't usually eat at Target but one day recently I was there and was near death due to hunger. The Baker went and got us one of these delicious things and we devoured it in seconds. YUM! Seriously! Yesterday Nora and I had this conversation in the car:

Nora: "Mommy, you know what I can't get out of my head?"
Me: "What?"
Nora: "That soft pretzel from Target! I love those things!"

That girl's just like her mommy. So if you've had one of these, tell me I'm not wrong! They are YUMMY! If you haven't, don't. I don't want you blaming me for your Cinnamon Sugar Soft Pretzel problem later.

So there you have it...two of my new favorite things. Grocery store shampoo and snack bar pretzels...I'm easy to please.

  1. Sister I hear ya about the whole curly hair problem.....I too, rocked the whole curly hair thing in the late 80's and early 90's (for several years I thought I had just gotten a really good perm, yuck!) then it was such a fashion faux pas to have curly hair and have straightened the bejezus out of my hair that I don't get those pretty curls like a used to have (that could have something to do with the 4 children I've baked in my stomach!)....I've tried expensive salon products like Bumble and Bumble (oh you should see what my husband writes on the bottles when he finds out how much they cost, not kid friendly in any stretch of the imagination-he thinks he's an expert since he know what all those scientific words mean on the bottle-darn Chemistry majors!) and none still control the frizz....I will be buying some of that stuff in the next couple of days to give a whirl and give my poor hair a break!

  2. Hi! I'm trying the shampoo! I have very thick hair and coarse, some curl but not as much as you but still... I LOVE Aveda products, the smell mostly but also makes my hair feel sooo smooth. It's expensive though but I often combine a cheaper shampoo so I'm trying yours w/ Aveda the new Deep Conditioner (blue/purple squeeze tube, and the deep conditioner one, like $27), you don't have to use much and it's AWESOME!!! I don't even have to use product before I blow-dry my hair to then straighten, then do put some oil stuff on to finish, but worth a try for you maybe??? :) I love your blog! Love your sense of humor! Awesome! xo, :)

  3. I, too, know the feeling of 90's hair. Mine is done rockin!! I have been using Arbonne, but I think my hair is getting used to it & finding a way to beat the conditioner & be frizzy once again, so I will have to try the grocery store find!! I have to admit I haven't used mousse since nineteen ninety...something. Didn't even know they still made that stuff! Can't wait to try it!

  4. Your too funny... I feel the same way, I used to have the best hair (curls) when the whole Julia Roberts thing was in, but ever since I had my daughter my curls just haven't been the same, so I've been straightening it, what a chore, I bought this tonight, I'm going to give it a try, I'll let you know how I make out!
