Pen Refills
I've had a lot of people ask me lately about refills for their pens. You can get them at most office supply stores. I saw them today at Office Depot. I believe they are the refills made for Parker pens but double check that before you buy them. They come in black or blue ink. If you don't want to do that YOU COULD JUST ORDER A NEW PEN and I'be be okay with that too!

This isn't so bad after all...
Thank you so much to all of you that have sent such encouraging emails about our little home schooling adventure. It truly makes my day to wake up to an email from someone telling me that they are thinking about us over here in our little "school." I have to be honest, a few days before "school" started, I was having HUGE regrets about our decision. I cried. I felt like this was going to be the worst decision EVER. When everyone went to Meet The Teacher, I felt like someone was having a big party and my kids were the only ones that didn't get invited. I listened to everyone talk about what teacher they got and I made a million lunchboxes and bag tags for other kids that were going to the big "party." I had a little pity party and wondered what in the world led us to this decision. Then school started and I prepared myself for the horribleness (I just decided that was a word.) Guess what? It's not horrible. I'm kind of enjoying it. I like planning. I like color coding their folders by the day of the week. I like finding out that Nora loves math and I would have never guessed that. I like that she suddenly LOVES to read and gets so excited when I tell her it's free reading time. I like that Graham is actually teaching ME geography because apparantly he studies maps in his spare time. I love that I get to teach him cursive and that he thinks it is so cool. I like that I am spending more time with them than I really have in a long time. I love that they have great friends who haven't forgotten about them just because they aren't at school. It might get old. It's only been a week and a half. I might be desparate for alone time. I might get tired of the fact that my errands are now group outings. I might get sick of having a dirty house because no one has time to clean it. But either way, I think I will look back on this and be glad that we did it. Thanks for all the encouragement.
Oh, and Charlie got in trouble today AGAIN at preschool. There was a long list of naughty things that he was up to. His teacher is the sweetest. I think she'll learn to love him despite his flaws.

"I Very Love You!"
Today while riding in the car Charlie suddenly said "I very love you Mommy." Are you kidding me?? That's what being a mommy is all about...
He started school last week. He loved it. He got in a little trouble for not being quiet at nap time on the second day. Because he's my third child, I laughed. If Graham had gotten in trouble on the 2nd day of school I would have consulted every parenting book I could find and would have determined immediately that he had severe behavior issues. Wait...I did do that when Graham was little!
Graham definitely caused some trouble in his preschool years. I could tell LOTS of stories about this one. He's grown out of it. I may be biased but I'm thinking he's probably one of the most well behaved almost 9 year olds EVER. I'm sure one of these days Charlie will grow out of it too.

NAME THAT NOTE CARD!
The other day I decided I needed a new note card. I was feeling very into yellow...I think it had something to do with a Design Star episode that I watched. I thought the yellow and blue was so happy. In very unpaperdoll fashion, I'm really liking the yellow and gray. OF COURSE, there has to be pink. I like designs like these because they can pretty much be done in any two colors. I'll just add them as people request them. Anyway, here's what I ended up with and now it needs a CUTE name!
Here's how we play:
Leave a comment on this post or send me an email with your name suggestions. The person who submits the winning name will not only go down in history as an official PaperDoll Note Card Namer but they will also win a prize!!! This time I will let the winner pick either a set of note cards in this design OR a coaster in this design.
Send in your suggestions....LET'S PLAY!!!

Days 2 & 3...
I promise, this won't turn into the Jameison Academy blog but I just had to give an update. All is well...the school days are over around lunchtime and I'm amazed at how great Graham and Nora are doing. This might not be as crazy as I thought it would be...
But then again, it's only been three days. 172 days to go...but who's counting????

The first day...
It's noon. We are done with the first day of school. We've already had "recess" and lunch. Today we did math, english, handwriting, a Bible lesson, phonics and reading. It's noon!!! We're done with school. Crazy. The teacher was a little unorganized and clueless at times. This crazy three year old kept wandering in and out of our "classroom" and he was quite disruptive. Nora says homeschooling is the best! Graham says it's cool. The worst part of it...making three lunches. I so wish there was a lunch lady living at my house. We survived. 174 more days to go...

Meet the Teacher
Today was the famous "Meet the Teacher" day at school. Charlie is one lucky boy. His teacher is fabulous! She's the same teacher Nora had when she was three. She loves those kids to pieces and is the sweetest teacher ever. Charlie is going to wear her out! He's my sweet baby but that boy's got some energy. I can't wait to see how he handles "big boy" school! I forgot to tell you...he is officially potty trained! Just in time...
Let me tell you about Graham and Nora's teacher. She's a first year teacher. She has zero teaching experience. She didn't even get her degree in Elementary Education! She's never written lesson plans, she doesn't have an official classroom...just a big closet where she is storing all the "school stuff" and she is the first to admit that she feels totally unprepared for the school year! That teacher would be ME and this homeschooling journey officially starts on Friday.

So Big!
Last Tuesday the first thing Nora said to me was "I want to get my ears pierced today!" I totally shocked her by saying "Okay, let's go!" She was so excited! We hopped in the car and went and grabbed her Nana and her cousin Will for a little support. She hopped up in that chair and held on like she was going on an amusement park ride. She didn't even flinch though. I was so happy that she didn't pick out ugly posts...she picked cute little flowers. She's so big!!!
